**The app’s note for the day, in Bengali**

কোজাগরী মানে ‘কে জেগে আছ?’ পূর্ণিমার রাতে ঘরে প্রদীপ জ্বলে, আলপনায় আঁকা হয় লক্ষ্মীর পা, আর সবাই রাত জাগে।

*On the day before the festival and on the day itself, the Today screen of the Ritupatra app carries this note.*

## How the day is chosen

The Purnima of Ashwin. The day whose evening (two ghatikas, 48 minutes after sunset) and midnight both fall in the Purnima; if both days qualify, or one day has only the midnight and the other only the evening, the later day (Tithitattva).

## Other rules, other days

- The Krityatattva rule (of two days, the earlier): Thursday, 14 October 2027.

Traditional (Surya Siddhanta) panjikas, such as Gupta Press and Beni Madhab Sil, can differ in tithi times by hours, so in some years the day differs too. Their dates will appear here side by side once that school has been checked against a full printed year.

Tithi times are for Kolkata, in Indian Standard Time. Panjikas give Kolkata’s festival days for all of West Bengal. [Why another panjika may differ](https://ritupatra.app/support#en)
